Techlift have successfully completed the replacement of a number of fixed tube heat exchangers at Qatargas in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.
Due to the time constraints of the shutdown window, re-tubing of the exchangers in-situ was not viable. As most of the exchangers were inaccessible for direct crane lifts, we designed temporary structures, saddles and skid systems to slide the exchangers into locations where they could be lifted or skidded directly on to self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT).
The exchanger replacements were carried out successfully, without incident and ahead of schedule. Testament to some innovative thinking, detailed planning and excellent engineering.
